Automatic Bill Payment


Automatic Bill Payment is as easy as it sounds. It allows your electric bill to be paid directly from whatever financial institution you choose: your bank, your savings and loan or your credit union. Imagine no more checks and no more payment deadlines! With Automatic Bill Payment, there has never been an easier way to pay your monthly electric bill. It gives you the opportunity to enjoy convenience, security, speed and savings by having your payments automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account. It eliminates the burden of mailing payments, saves postage and ensures your payments are always on time. The service is absolutely FREE!


With KIUC Automatic Bill Payment:

1. You will never miss a payment, even when you are out of town.

2. You will still receive a monthly statement from KIUC showing the same information as a bill (meter reading, usage, account balance, etc.).

3. You will see how much energy you used and the amount and date of your next automatic withdrawal.

4. Your payment will be electronically deducted from your checking or savings account.

5. No checks are required.

6. No late payments, ever.


Here is how to get started:

Complete an authorization form and return it to KIUC. Be certain to include a voided check or photocopy of a check with the authorization form. We will arrange your Automatic Bill Payment with your financial institution. You will continue to receive an electric bill every month that features the date on which your bill will automatically be paid. Deductions are made 21 days or later once your electric bill is mailed. This gives you time to review your bill and call KIUC with any questions.


All you have to do is make certain there are sufficient funds in your account to cover the automatic withdrawal each month. If your Automatic Bill Payment is returned for insufficient funds, your financial institution and KIUC will assess the same amount that would apply for a dishonored check. So let your bank, savings and loan or credit union do your monthly bill paying automatically. Complete the form or call a member services representative at 246.4300 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays.

Electronic Funds Transfer/Automatic Clearing House (EFT/ACH) payments are available to commercial accounts. Special banking set-up is required by both the account and KIUC. To initiate this type of payment option, commercial accounts may forward required forms to the member services department at KIUC.


Drop Box and Walk-in Payments


Drop box and walk-in payments are accepted at our Lihu‘e office. Cashiers accept cash, checks, money orders or cashier’s checks. If you are in a hurry or dropping by when we are not open, you may place your payments in the drop boxes located in the lobby and outside the building (available 24 hours a day, seven days a week). For security purposes, please do not put a cash payment into the drop box. Please put your bill stub along with a check, money order or cashier’s check in one of the envelopes provided.


First Hawaiian Bank branches on the island of Kaua‘i accept KIUC bill payments. You may use cash, checks, money orders or cashier’s checks to pay your bill. First Hawaiian Bank adds a small convenience fee for each transaction.


Mail-in Payments


Mailing your payment in the envelope provided with your bill is simple and easy. Please include your bill stub along with your check, money order or cashier’s check—no cash, please.


Online payments made through your bank also are accepted. Please make sure your request for payment is made well in advance of the due date since most banks actually end up sending a check, which may take up to a week to receive at KIUC. To facilitate quicker processing of this type of payment, please have your bank use the following address instead of the Honolulu P.O. Box that is on the return envelope included with your bill:

Online Payments


Western Union Speedpay is a third-party vendor that provides electronic payment service to KIUC customers. The service gives members the freedom and convenience to pay their electric bill when and how they want, using their savings/checking account, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or debit (ATM) card.


Western Union Speedpay charges a convenience fee of $4.95 for residential accounts and $19.95 for commercial accounts. KIUC does not receive any portion of the convenience fee. The fee, which is in addition to your KIUC electric bill payment, is paid directly to Western Union Speedpay for providing this service to our customers.
